I have lots of paper clogging up the house. For some reason, I feel the need to hold onto this paper greatly. The honest truth is that I do not trust receiving bills in my e-mail. It seems like too much work because there is an element of having to track down bills in my e-mail. What if it goes to spam? I just don’t like it. So I have always had my bills delivered to the house. That way I have a paper record.
The problem with this, of course, is now there is a bunch of paper to maintain. There is a bunch of filing. The kicker is that I usually never have to go back and look at any of it.
When I saw the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500, I was very excited. This just might be the tool that will allow me to quickly make all of my paper into a digital pdf format. My one concern was ensuring that the pdfs that I make are in fact going to be backed up somewhere. I would hate to put all the work in to scanning documents only to lose it digitally when a hard drive crashes.
So, I have coupled my scanning efforts with the backup experts at Carbonite. So, any scan I make is also backed up into the backup cloud of Carbonite. This has the added beniefit of allowing me to access anything I scan from anywhere in the world. Neat!
